College of Continuing Education (CCE)

Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) started to offer continuing education programs in 1957, and is one of the first higher education institutions in China to offer such programs. After over 50 years' commitment to teaching practice, the College of Continuing Education (CCE) has earned itself a nationwide name in continuing education and its management. More than 40,000 people have been granted associate degrees or bachelor's degrees from XAUAT, who are now the mainstay in production or management posts across the country.

Thanks to the educational concept and the advantage in educational resources of XAUAT, recent years have witnessed great progress in continuing education. Now, there are well-established programs at various levels (junior college for students transferred from senior high school, undergraduate programs for either students transferred from senior high school or from junior college), and in diversified school-running forms (full time, part time, and correspondence). Apart from the counseling sessions for Examinations for Self-taught Students and many kinds of vocational training, programs in about 30 specialties, mainly in the field of engineering, are offered to 15,000 students in 50 teaching branches across the country.

After years' endeavor in fulfilling the social needs, CCE has achieved much in the program designing and discipline management, and is celebrated for its quality-oriented further education system. In order to construct the education-for-all system and the lifelong-education system, and implement the strategy of developing the country by relying on science and education, CCE is making renewed efforts in optimizing the management system, improving the conditions in general, and deepening the teaching reform, strengthening the teaching quality, so as to make further contribution to talent-training in China.

College of Vocational Technology (CVT)

Higher education of vocational technology in Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology started in the early 1980s, based on a branch of Vocational School in Shaanxi Higher Education System and Teachers Training Base of Vocational Education in Shaanxi Province . On August 3, 1999, ratified by the Education Department of Shaanxi Province, College of Vocational Technology (CVT), XAUAT was established, to be fully in charge of the teaching and management of the vocational technical education. With the support of authorities at all levels, CVT has achieved much in the cultivation of talents, and has made great contribution to the construction of an innovative nation.

In 1999, the vocational and technical classes started in four undergraduate specialties, including civil engineering. In 2000, the senior college programs were started. In 2003, the undergraduate program in CVT started to recruit transferred students from senior college; in the same year, CVT was approved to grant master's degree in vocational and technical pedagogy. Up till 2011, after 8 years' recruitment, the enrollment of graduate students reached 60. Now the college is bidding for the right to confer master's degree in first-level discipline(s) and in the specialty of pedagogy.
