Teaching Chinese for Foreigners (TCFF) aims to equip students with the professional competence required for their future jobs in diplomatic departments, international business organizations, institutions of higher learning and cultural and research institutions.
Equipped with modern teaching facilities, the teaching and research section for TCFF has a strong teaching faculty proficient in language teaching and active in scientific research. There are 3 professors or associate professors and 2 lecturers among the 8 full-time teachers, most of whom have obtained their master's degrees. The teachers, who hold the official certificate for teaching Chinese to foreigners, are also proficient in English and most of them have had the experience of teaching Chinese abroad. Their dedication and professionalism are testified by the achievements of their research papers published in recent years, quite a number of which are high-leveled.
At present, the section offers a four-year undergraduate program leading to Bachelor's degree in literature. In terms of syllabus design, the section offers such courses as Advanced English, English writing, Modern Chinese, Chinese Writing, English and Chinese Translating, Modern and Contemporary Literature of China, Ancient Chinese Literature, Introduction to Linguistics, Introduction to Foreign-Related Chinese Education, Foreign-Related Chinese Educational Approach, Comparison between English Language and Chinese Language, Chinese and Foreign Cultures, Intercultural Exchanges, Architecture Culture, Chinese Folk Culture, Culture and Etiquette of Western Countries, etc.
In addition, the section offers a variety of extracurricular programs, including courses on Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, martial arts, taiji, and other subjects related to Chinese culture and society.
