Established in 1995, the Section of English major has 15 faculty members, with 5 vice professors, 8 lecturers and 2 assistant lecturers (two vice professors attending courses for doctor's degree at present). We also have 2-3 three foreign teachers each year. About 420 students-junior college students and undergraduates already graduated, now there are about 210 undergraduates studying here.
Young and energetic, teachers in this section are capable and innovative. What's more, 80% of them took part in the teaching contest and succeeded. They are keen on the innovation and research in their teaching.
We offer the following courses:
Basic English, Advanced English, Oral English, English Writing, Translation Theories and Practice, Rhetoric, Extensive Reading, Listening, Advanced Listening and Seeing, Oral Interpretation, Phonetics and Recitation, Thesis Writing; Linguistics, Stylistics, British and American Literature, British and American Culture;
International Trade, Business English, Tourism English, History and Culture of Architecture, Survey of Environment Technology, Western Culture, Western Art and Theories, Psychology of Education.
During the past years, about 60% of our students could pass TEM4, TEM8, higher than the average passing rate of the all the English majors in the nation, and the rate of being employed is 98%.
