Internationalization is a strategic priority for Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT). The University has established cooperative partnerships with more than 100 universities and institutions across over 40 countries and regions, creating a broad platform for global engagement in education, research, and cultural exchange.
XAUAT actively promotes student and faculty mobility, joint research, academic exchanges, and international talent cultivation. Through a diverse portfolio of cooperation programs and scholarship initiatives, the University provides students and scholars with extensive opportunities for international learning and collaboration.
As an active participant in the Belt and Road Initiative, XAUAT took the lead in establishing the Silk Road International Alliance of Architectural and Technological Universities (SRIAATU), which brings together 65 universities and enterprises from 28 countries. The University also established its first overseas educational institution, the XAUAT–OshTU International School of Architecture, in partnership with Osh Technological University of Kyrgyzstan. In addition, XAUAT operates two Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions approved by the Ministry of Education of China: XAUAT-AU An De College and XAUAT-UC International Science and Engineering Institute.
XAUAT is committed to developing a high-quality international student education system. Leveraging its disciplinary strengths and academic resources, the University has built the “Study at XAUAT” brand and offers a diverse range of degree and non-degree programs for international students. Supported by scholarship programs such as the Sanqin Scholarship and the Xi’an Belt and Road Scholarship, XAUAT has attracted students from more than 40 countries and regions, with over 1,000 international students having studied at the University to date. Serving as the University's gateway for international students, the School of International Education provides comprehensive academic, linguistic, and cultural support, fostering an inclusive and multicultural learning environment that promotes academic success, intercultural understanding, and global competence.
The University currently maintains 11 national- and provincial-level discipline innovation and talent introduction bases and 6 international science and technology cooperation platforms. Leveraging these resources and its disciplinary strengths in architecture, civil engineering, environmental science, materials science, and urban development, XAUAT continues to expand international academic and research cooperation.
