XAUAT News Networks — At the invitation of Scott Dewar, Ambassador of Australia to China, a delegation led by Vice President Chen Rong of Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) attended a reception held at the Australian Embassy in Beijing on April 14 to welcome Frances Adamson, Governor of South Australia, during her visit to China. The event aimed to further promote educational, cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and Australia.

Governor Adamson has long been committed to fostering China–Australia relations. She previously served as Australia’s Ambassador to China and was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia in 2021. During the reception, Chen Rong introduced the achievements and progress made in the establishment, operation and development of An De College, the Sino-foreign cooperative education institution jointly established by XAUAT and Adelaide University.

During the event, Chen Rong also held in-depth discussions with Ambassador Dewar on the current status and future prospects of China–Australia educational cooperation. Chen noted that XAUAT has consistently attached great importance to internationalization and has maintained a long-standing and stable partnership with Adelaide University. He expressed the hope that An De College would serve as a platform for further advancing talent cultivation, collaborative research and cultural exchange.

Ambassador Dewar remarked that An De College serves as an important bridge for educational and cultural exchanges between China and Australia as well as for talent development, and he highly praised the accomplishments achieved by the institution.

Also attending the reception were Lori Hocking, Deputy Vice-Chancellor responsible for International Partnerships at Adelaide University, and Professor Colin Stirling, Vice-Chancellor of Flinders University, together with representatives from a number of Chinese universities engaged in cooperative education programs with higher education institutions in South Australia. The event provided an opportunity for participants to strengthen connections, exchange experiences in Sino-foreign cooperative education, and lay a solid foundation for expanding inter-university cooperation at multiple levels and across broader fields.

Looking ahead, XAUAT will continue to leverage its existing international cooperation platforms, actively expand practical collaboration with leading universities worldwide, enhance the quality of its international education, and contribute to the University’s pursuit of high-quality development in talent cultivation and its Double First-Class initiative.
