XAUAT and University of Canterbury Sign Cooperative Education Agreement at the Second New Zealand-China High-level Education Forum

XAUAT News Network — On October 30, the Second New Zealand-China High-level Education Forum was held in Beijing. Witnessed by Ren Youqun, Vice Minister of Education of China, and Shane Reti, New Zealand Minister for Universities, Zhu Xiaowei, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT), signed a cooperative education agreement with the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, on behalf of the University.

The forum was convened to implement the outcomes of the leaders’ meetings between China and New Zealand, deepen educational cooperation under the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and promote bilateral education cooperation to a higher level for mutual benefit and shared development. The education authorities of both countries have attached great importance to and strongly supported the collaboration between the two universities. The signing ceremony, as a key event of the forum, marked a further step forward in practical cooperation between the two countries in the field of higher education.

According to the agreement, XAUAT and the University of Canterbury will establish a Chinese–foreign cooperative education institution (non-independent legal entity) based on the principles of complementary strengths and shared development. The two universities will engage in extensive cooperation in areas including talent cultivation, faculty and student exchanges, scientific research collaboration, and curriculum development.

This partnership represents not only a significant initiative in advancing XAUAT’s internationalization strategy and enhancing the quality of its education, but also a concrete manifestation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between China and New Zealand in the field of education. The collaboration will provide students from both countries with greater access to high-quality educational resources and international exchange opportunities, inject new momentum into China–New Zealand educational cooperation, and contribute wisdom and strength to the development of international education worldwide.
