XAUAT News Network — From 29 June to 4 July 2026, President Zhao Xiangmo led a university delegation on an official visit to Germany and France to strengthen international partnerships and expand cooperation in education, research, and innovation. During the visit, the delegation visited TU Dresden, Dresden Chip Academy, Frankfurt School of Real Estate, and École Supérieure Libre d'Art de Paris (ESLAP). The delegation also paid visits to the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Frankfurt, the Permanent Delegation of the People's Republic of China to UNESCO, and the UNESCO's Division of Ethics, Research and Technology.
During the visit to Germany, the delegation visited TU Dresden. As a member of the TU9 Alliance of leading German universities of technology and one of Germany's Universities of Excellence, TU Dresden, founded in 1828, enjoys an outstanding international reputation in engineering and technology. The two sides held productive discussions, reviewing the progress of their existing partnership and exploring new opportunities for collaboration in green buildings, intelligent construction, materials science, joint research, and faculty and student mobility. Building on the strong foundation of cooperation, the two universities signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement to further deepen institutional collaboration. Following the meeting, President Zhao met with Chinese students studying in Dresden. He introduced XAUAT's talent recruitment initiatives and career opportunities and warmly invited outstanding young scholars to join the University and contribute to its future development.
During the visit to the Dresden Chip Academy, the delegation gained an in-depth understanding of the Academy's education and research in frontier fields such as semiconductor technology and microelectronics engineering. The two sides exchanged views on XAUAT's disciplinary strengths in intelligent buildings and building electrical engineering and automation, and explored opportunities for collaboration in the emerging field that brings together semiconductor technologies and intelligent building technologies. They also agreed to explore future cooperation in joint research and talent development.
In Frankfurt, the delegation visited the Frankfurt School of Real Estate, which specializes in research on real estate investment, finance, digital transformation, and sustainable development. During the meeting, both sides held in-depth discussions on green building assessment, urban regeneration, and sustainable real estate development. Recognizing their shared academic interests in sustainable urban and built environment studies, they expressed a strong interest in expanding cooperation in research, academic exchange, and talent development.
While in Frankfurt, the delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Frankfurt. President Zhao introduced XAUAT's distinctive academic profile, disciplinary strengths, and internationalization strategy, and expressed sincere appreciation for the Consulate-General's longstanding support and guidance. Representatives of the Consulate-General reaffirmed their commitment to supporting XAUAT's cooperation with German universities and research institutions.
During the visit to France, the delegation visited École Supérieure Libre d'Art de Paris (ESLAP) and held discussions with its Executive President and other senior representatives. The two sides reviewed the achievements of their existing partnership and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in joint research, faculty exchanges, and student mobility. President Zhao noted that XAUAT's College of Art has distinctive strengths in environmental art design, sculpture, and painting. He expressed the hope that XAUAT and ESLAP would build on their respective strengths to foster closer integration between the arts, humanities, and technological innovation, thereby making greater contributions to the development of the built environment and cultural development.
The delegation also met with the Permanent Delegation of the People's Republic of China to UNESCO. President Zhao introduced the University's teaching and research achievements in architectural heritage conservation, green buildings, and sustainable development, and expressed the hope of making greater use of UNESCO's international platform to advance cooperation in cultural heritage conservation, building science, and related fields. Representatives of the Permanent Delegation expressed their willingness to support XAUAT in expanding its international partnerships through UNESCO.
The delegation also visited UNESCO's Division of Ethics, Research and Technology and held discussions with division representatives on research ethics, artificial intelligence governance, and sustainable development. President Zhao introduced XAUAT's latest achievements in intelligent construction and green building technologies and expressed the University's interest in strengthening cooperation with UNESCO in areas including science and technology ethics, the development of ethical standards, and academic exchange.
The delegation also included representatives from the Office of International Affairs, the School of Civil Engineering, and the School of Urban Development and Modern Transportation.
