The School of Language, Literature and Law is is a humanities-oriented school founded on foreign language instruction and characterized by specialized teaching and research.. It encompasses four academic disciplines:, Literature, Law, Arts, and Education. The School focuses on cultivating interdisciplinary and application-oriented research talents who possess both linguistic proficiency and industry-specific knowledge. It offers four undergraduate programs: Chinese Language and Literature, English, Law, and Applied Chinese, among which the English program is listed as a provincial first-class undergraduate program development initiative under the “Double Ten-Thousand Plan”. At postgraduate level, it offers master’s degrees in Chinese Language and Literature, Arts, International Chinese Education, and Law, conferring academic master’s degrees in Literature and Arts, and professional master’s degrees in International Chinese Education and Law.
The School currently has 187 faculty and staff members, including 12 professors, 54 associate professors, 2 “Yanta Scholar” distinguished professors, over 60 doctoral degree holders and doctoral candidates, and over 50 master’s supervisors. It consists of 8 teaching units, 3 of which are responsible for teaching courses in English, Japanese, Russian, French, and German at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels across the university. Currently, there are over 300 graduate students and over 1,100 undergraduate students, along with 95 international students.
In recent years, the School has undertaken over 150 research projects at national, provincial, municipal, and university levels. It has published 41 academic monographs and other works, as well as over 150 articles in various academic journals. A number of excellent monographs, articles, and textbooks have won national and provincial or ministerial-level awards. It currently has 7 research institutes, including the Institute of Area and Country Studies, and hosts the Construction Law Research Association of the Shaanxi Law Society.
The School features advanced teaching equipment. Its teaching experiment center is equipped with a campus-wide foreign language broadcasting station, a digital humanities lab, a simultaneous interpretation room, a moot court, and a Chinese language practice room. Its library holds over 90 types of Chinese and foreign language periodicals.
To enhance students’ practical skills, the School has established strong cooperative relationships with numerous enterprises, public institutions, schools of various levels and types, and law firms, offering abundant internship and practice opportunities.
