Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology Adelaide University An De College(An De College)was established in May 2017 with the approval of the Ministry of Education of China.It is a non-independent Sino-foreign cooperative educationinstitutionjointly run by Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology and Adelaide University (ranked 82nd in the QS World University Rankings).It is the first Sino-foreign cooperative education institution in the northwestChinato offer both undergraduate and graduate programs.The establishment ofAn DeCollege is a significant milestone in enhancing the internationalization level ofXAUATand an important measure for theUniversityto deepen educational and teaching reforms.
Located on the Caotang Campus,theCollege embraces internationally advanced educational philosophies, recruitesa global faculty to cultivate an exceptional learning environment, and pioneer innovative talent cultivation models.At the undergraduate level, it offers three programs: Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Construction, and Engineering Management, through a "3+1"model;at thepostgraduate levelarefiveprograms: Civil Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Technology, utilizing "1+1+1" or "1+1"models.Additionally, the College provides integrated bachelor’s-master’s pathways, including "3+2", "4+1.5", and "4+2" models, offering students diverse routes for academic advancement. All programs are flagship disciplines jointly offered by Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology and the University of Adelaide.
The College is committed to fostering students through a comprehensive and holistic educational approach tailored to the characteristics of Sino-foreign cooperative education, with the goal of cultivating students equipped with innovative thinking and practical abilities. The College has established the distinctive“An De Second Classroom”system centered on“Arts, Sports, Books, and Coffee.”With English learning as the carrier, ithasorganizes more than 70 themed English-corner activitiesopen tothe entireuniversity,and launchedaseries of English art festival activities to enhance students' cultural literacy.Students areencouragedto strengthen their physical fitnessthroughvarious sports competitions. Astrongreading atmosphereis forstered throughtheAn DeCollege Library Branch and the “AnDeBook Talk”acticvities, whilethe Ande Coffee Entrepreneurship Practice Platformhelps cultivate students’ innovation and entrepreneurial capabilities.In addition, through activities such as “China in the Eyes of Foreign Media,” students are encouraged to examine Chinafrom an international perspective. The “Face to FacewithAmbassadors ” program has invited several former Chinese ambassadors to the United Nations and the United States to engage in face-to-face discussions with students on international affairs and China’s foreign policy, broadening students’ global horizons while strengthening their sense of social responsibility and commitment to society.
Under the backdrop of the "Belt and Road" initiative,the Collegeaims to cultivate high-level international talents who will serve in the construction and management of future smart cities. Over the past three years, undergraduates have won 138 provincial-level or above awards in competitions such as the China International Collegiate Innovation Competition, the "Challenge Cup" Collegiate Entrepreneurship Plan Competition, the National Collegiate English Competition, and the Collegiate Mathematical Modeling Competition.In total, studentshave secured 14 international awards, 158 national awards, and 323 provincial and ministerial awards.
The average employment rate of graduates fromlastfive years stands at 91.8%, with a further education rate of 56%. Notably, over 80% of them have been admitted to prestigious overseas universities,such as the University of California, Berkeley, University College London, the University of Manchester, the University of Sydney, the National University of Singapore, and the University of Hong Kong.
The Collegewas designatedas an excellent Chinese-foreign cooperative education institution in Shaanxi Province for two consecutive years(2020-2021). In 2022, itsuccessfullypassed theQualityAssessmentforChinese-foreign cooperative education institutions, administeredbytheChina Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center(CDGDC).In 2024,Prof.Xiong Zhongming,Executive Dean,was honored with the National Outstanding Contribution Award for Chinese-Foreign Cooperative Education.Furthermore, in 2025, the College received the Second Prizein the Shaanxi Provincial Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award (Graduate Level).Its educational quality and talent cultivation achievements have been widely recognized by society.
