The National & Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Functional Materials Processing was approved for establishment by the National Development and Reform Commission in March 2015. Adopting the 'industry-university-research-application' model, it relies on the scientific research and talent advantages of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, and is jointly established with Jinduicheng Molybdenum Co., Ltd. and Baoti Group Co., Ltd. Based in the non-ferrous metal industry, the center focuses on the preparation and processing of high-performance non-ferrous metal functional materials, carries out integrated collaborative research on the design, process, products and equipment of non-ferrous metal materials, and has formed distinctive advantages in the basic theory, key technologies and equipment research and development of advanced functional materials, high-performance non-ferrous metal materials and rare metal materials, effectively improving the original innovation capability and core competitiveness of non-ferrous metal materials preparation and processing. In recent years, it has undertaken more than 50 national-level projects such as the National Key R&D Program projects, the National Major Scientific Research Instrument Development Project and the Key Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and more than 100 provincial, departmental and enterprise projects. It has won 1 Second Class of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 11 First Class of Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Awards such as the First Class of Shaanxi Province Technological Invention Award. It has won the titles of 'Innovation and Striving' Team of the Chinese Nonferrous Metals Society and 'Sanqin Scholars' Innovation Team of Shaanxi Province.
